Morning Breakfast Routine

Most of my mornings start with some freshly squeezed orange juice with blackcurrant jam (one of my favourites, I just love the dark jams), or half of an avocado, on toasted whole grain seeded bread (or olive bread, but that one never seems to last long as I am able to devour half a loaf in one sitting, oops!). Or, if I have forgotten to go grocery shopping, I will have some oats with almond milk and blueberries or some whole bran cereal with the same milk.

I absolutely love having orange juice for breakfast. It boosts my immune system just as the day is starting, giving me an infusion of Vitamin C that lasts all day. It is also very important not to get rid of the fibre in the juice as it aids in lowering your bad cholesterol and in maintaining blood sugar levels balanced. Besides, it's a yummy way to start the day and it gives you an energy boost.

In England fruit isn't cheap but if you buy the right oranges (not the ones labelled as juicing ones, get the big fat ones), you will get your money's worth. One bag of oranges comes with 5 oranges and yields 700mL of juice. That's enough for a big chunk of your breakfast. Ok, right, so it's not super cheap as one bag costs £1.5, but if you're improving your health and your mood, I would say it is worth it!

This is the only way I have been able to survive in a house of 8 during the winter. Whilst everybody was getting ill (multiple times), all I got was a blocked nose for a few days (just once). I swear by the power of the orange juice, also not indulging in greasy fatty foods and sweets helps quite a bit, although I have been a bit naughty in the past few weeks.
